Direct route into the Diploma programme:
Learners in possession of:
- Matric certificate or equivalent with 50% in English, Maths and Physics
- Matric certificate or equivalent with 50% in English and 50% in N3 Maths, Engineering Science and another electrical engineering subject
- NCV 4 certificate in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 50% in English and 50% in Maths, Engineering Science/Physics and another electrical engineering subject
- Montwood Bridging Certificate
NB. Although the national pass mark is 40% in the college sector, students wishing to articulate or progress into the university sector, will require a minimum pass mark of 50% in all subjects, for credit or exemption purposes
The course is presented in accordance with national standards, complying with QCTO (Quality Council for Trades & Occupation) and DHET (Department of Higher Education & Training) requirements.
This basic level is presented by means of a weekly knowledge-sharing exercise in the classroom integrated by application of this knowledge in a fully equipped laboratory on more complex components & IC’s of electrical & electronic engineering, then integrated into circuits to conduct tests to compare calculated results to measured results.
The programme is audited and presented under the mentorship of individuals amongst who are industrial practitioners and university academics registered with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa).
